For the past 27 years, Jangheung County has maintained a thriving cooperative relationship with its sister city, Yeongdo-gu in Busan, through direct trade of local rice. On the 24th, Jangheung County announced that they supplied 186 tons of their regional representative branded rice, 'Arumi Rice,' directly to Yeongdo-gu. The Jangheung County and Yeongdo-gu New Village Society have been connected through sister-city ties, facilitating the direct trade of Jangheung rice for 27 years. This direct trade approach connects producers and consumers directly, providing high-quality Jangheung agricultural products at reasonable prices to Yeongdo-gu residents, while providing Jangheung farmers with a stable market. In the recent direct trade event, a total of approximately 9,300 bags (20 kg each) of Arumi Rice and cooked rice were ordered, resulting in sales of around 535 million won. On the morning of the 24th, a packing ceremony was held at the Jeongnamjin Agricultural Cooperative Rice Combination Law Firm (represented by Kim Yong-kyung) in An-yang-myeon, Jangheung County. On the 25th, a 'Jangheung Rice Direct Trade Sales Event' was held at the Yeongdo-gu Cheong-hak-dong Waterfront Park in Busan, where the rice was scheduled for delivery to consumers. Jangheung County Governor Kim Seong emphasized that the continuous exchange has helped spread the excellence of high-quality Jangheung rice, contributing significantly to farmers' income growth and securing stable markets. He further stated that they will expand various cooperative projects in the future to foster more mutual benefits between cities and rural areas. Jangheung County and Busan Metropolitan City Yeongdo-gu New Village Society have maintained an active relationship since their sister-city partnership in 1998. They have been involved in direct agricultural product trade events, cultural and artistic exchanges, and other activities for the past 27 years.
