The collaboration aims to introduce AI and smart farming technology on a large scale and deploy advanced farming machinery for Haenam's major crops. On the 10th of the month, Haenam County held a cooperative consultation meeting with Mayor Myeong Hyun-gwan, Lee Kwang-woong from Daedong's domestic business division, Choi Jun-gi, the director of Daedong AI Lab, and Song Yong-sik, the vice president of Hanwha Solutions' energy business planning office. They discussed strategies for cooperation between Haenam, the largest farming county in South Korea, Daedong, the leading agricultural machinery company in the country, and Hanwha Solutions, a leading company in energy and materials technology. During the meeting, they agreed to apply data-based precision farming solutions throughout the production process of Haenam's major agricultural products, such as cabbage and sweet potatoes. The four key projects selected include: 1) constructing an agricultural machinery data-centered integrated control system, 2) creating a smart farm test bed in the county's agricultural research institute, 3) promoting the advanced farming of Haenam's cabbages through the spread of ICT (information and communication technology) in open fields, and 4) implementing an agricultural artificial intelligence conversion (AX) platform. They also plan to conduct a pilot test for farm-type solar power, which has recently gained attention as a new renewable energy source. This collaboration is significant as it aims to transform Haenam's largest industry, agriculture, by integrating AI technology. This will contribute to the great shift towards smart farming and foster a new growth engine. The county expects this project to serve as a significant opportunity to create a new rural model for South Korea, known as 'Haenam, the agricultural and fishing village capital of the Republic of Korea.' In the future, the county, Daedong, and Hanwha Solutions plan to establish a broad cooperation system centered around agriculture, energy, and AI, which will expand not only within the country but also globally. Haenam County Mayor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, "Now, agriculture must also transform by centering on data and AI." He added, "We anticipate synergy between Haenam County, Daedong, and Hanwha Solutions as we prepare for the rural capital vision using Haenam's abundant agricultural resources and energy."
