Haenam County is urging parents to vaccinate their children against the flu as the number of influenza cases continues to rise. The local health authorities are strongly recommending that high-risk groups, particularly children and adolescents with weakened immune systems, receive their flu vaccinations. Since children and adolescents in daycare centers and schools have a higher risk of infection, flu vaccinations are essential for their health protection. It is crucial to complete the vaccination timely as it takes at least two weeks for antibodies to form after receiving the vaccine. If the ideal timing is missed, the desired preventive effect might not be achieved. Children aged 13 and below who are eligible for national support can receive free vaccinations across the country, irrespective of their residential address. For children aged 6 and below, vaccinations are available on Saturdays at nine medical institutions in Haenam County. The county's health center also provides vaccinations for children aged 7 and above, while adolescents aged 14 to 18 can receive paid vaccinations (10,000 won) at the health center. The county official emphasized, "We urge high-risk groups, particularly children under the age of 13, to actively participate in flu vaccinations to strengthen their immunity and prevent illnesses.
