곡성군가족센터, ‘이중언어 문화체험’ 성료

Gwangyang City recently operated a 'Biliteracy Cultural Experience Program' at the Gwangyang Family Center, engaging multicultural children and parents. The Gwangyang Family Center initiated the "Mother's Country Language Learning" project in 2019, starting Vietnamese lessons. Since then, it has expanded its educational targets to Tagalog and Khmer languages, conducting weekly Saturday classes for three countries. This year, they continued to provide education combining language and culture since April, and the cultural experience event marked the end of the year-long lessons. During the cultural experience event, participants made and shared food from their mother countries, sang traditional songs, and tried on traditional clothing. These activities helped multicultural children naturally understand their mothers' native cultures while strengthening emotional bonds with their parents. A city official stated, "We will actively support multicultural children in continuously developing their bilingual strengths. We ask for continued interest and encouragement so that they can grow into global contributors as valuable assets to the local society."
