Slow City Cheongsando Flocks with Tourists Amidst Late-Blooming Phan Foliage The island of Cheongsando in Slowy City, where the Phan foliage blooms the latest in South Korea, has emerged as a popular autumn destination for tourists. The 'Slow Walking on the Phan Path' event, organized by the local residents, took place from November 29 to 30 in Cheongsando's Country Flower Village, attracting over 1,000 visitors. The Phan Path in Cheongsando's Country Flower Village is part of the Slow Walking Route 9, stretching about 3.2 km from Sur Suwon Entrance to Geoje Cheongsong Beach, taking approximately one hour to walk. On November 29, vehicles were restricted, allowing both residents and tourists to safely stroll along the Phan Path. Various programs, including Nordic Walking, life photography, performances, experiences, and dining, were arranged along the path, enabling visitors to soak in the atmosphere of late autumn. The event attracted a significant number of tourists, injecting vitality into the local commercial district, including accommodations, restaurants, and transportation services. One tourist commented, "I visited in spring to see the canola flowers and found the Phan Path equally impressive. Cheongsando seems to be an enchanting place." The county official stated, "Despite the short three-hour event, many people came to visit Cheongsando. We will continue to work on revitalizing island tourism with the cooperation of residents and tourists." Cheongsando, designated as Asia's first Slow City in 2007, is known for preserving its natural environment and unique traditional culture. Every spring, the 'Slow Walking Festival' is held on the island.
