The Field Countermeasures Team will identify regional climate and energy issues centered around the metropolitan and basin environmental offices in the future, build a public-private collaboration system, and systematically prepare decarbonization ecosystem tasks and regulatory improvement plans. During the launch event, Mayor Myung Hyun-gwan of Haenam introduced the "Solar City Artificial Intelligence (AI) Energy Future City" project and reported on the plan to build a 5.4GW-scale solar power generation site. He also relayed the difficulties faced in the renewable energy project implementation process, such as delayed permits, limitations in power grid connections, and prolonged environmental assessments, and requested active support from the central government. After the launch event, attendees visited Haenam's Solar City San-i Garden, solar power generation facility operation center, Garden of the Sun, and RE100 industrial site to inspect the local renewable energy infrastructure and future expansion plans. Mayor Myung Hyun-gwan stated, "To reliably operate a large-scale AI infrastructure, sufficient renewable energy supply is essential," and emphasized the need for continuous collaboration and support from the central government as the RE100-dedicated industrial site will contribute significantly to the strengthening of the national industrial competitiveness.
