해남군 북평면 동해마을 ‘2025 좋은이웃 밝은동네’ 대상 수상

Haenam County's Bukpyeong-myeon Donghae Village, represented by Mo Yong-gi, has been awarded the "2025 Good Neighbors Bright Village" prize by KBC Gwangju Broadcasting for its contribution to the harmonious development of the community. Located on the slopes of Duurul Mountain, Donghae Village boasts a natural environment and exceptional community harmony. It has been consecutively selected as an Eco-Village in 2004, a Green Rural Community Experience Village in 2005, an Information Village in 2007, and a Kimchi Happiness Village in 2011, being recognized as Haenam's most exemplary village community. The village's water-play experience center, operated by the residents, has become a popular summer tourist destination in Haenam County, attracting over 10,000 visitors annually and generating more than 100 million won in revenue each year, showcasing a successful model for resident-led income-generating projects. Every winter, the village hosts the "Donghae Kimchi Village Kimchi Making Event," where they use locally produced cabbages and gochugaru (red pepper flakes) to make kimchi, which is then distributed to 22 other village community centers and senior citizens in the area, spreading the warmth of community spirit. The villagers have a systematic cooperative structure, with village-level organizations such as the women's association, the senior citizens' association, and the youth association, dividing roles and fairly distributing profits according to their self-generated profit distribution principles. They also participated in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries' General Rural Development Village Comprehensive Development Project, involving villagers' opinions from the application stage to completion without conflicts. Donghae Village has also been a model for the operation evaluation of Information Villages organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Jeollanam-do Province, earning a prominent position among 357 Information Villages nationwide. A county official stated, "Donghae Village is the village where communication and unity among residents are the strongest," and added, "In the future, we will actively support the resident-led village community to continue growing sustainably."
