곡성군, 2025년 임업·산림 공익직불금 4억 5천만 원 지급

This initiative, called the Forestry and Forest Management Public Benefit Direct Payment System, aims to compensate for low income among forestry workers and increase the economic and public value of forests. Implemented since 2022, it provides direct support to eligible forestry households annually. The public benefit direct payment type is divided into two categories: forest product production and forestry farming payments. The forest product production payment is for forestry workers who produce forest products from forests of 0.1 hectares or more under the Forest Product Income Sources Support Act. The forestry farming payment is for forestry workers who plant, nurture, or manage trees on forests of 3 hectares or more. In February this year, the county began accepting new applications from forestry workers. By the end of November, it completed the verification of eligibility requirements and implementation checks to finalize the recipients for the direct payment. A county official stated that "the public benefit direct payment is an important system that helps stabilize forestry management and income foundations for forestry workers" and expressed the commitment to continue strengthening on-site guidance and promotion to ensure more forestry workers can benefit from this system in the future.
