The establishment of these national centers will contribute to the reduction of climate change-induced agricultural damage and the creation of a sustainable agricultural environment. Haenam County aims to strengthen its status as a 'Rural Capital Haenam' by setting these centers as its core goals. The Agriculture Climate Change Response Center will serve as a national hub for climate change response strategies, data management, and research for the agricultural sector. It will also provide education and promotion for farmers and consumers. Additionally, Haenam County plans to integrate and relocate the Jeollanam-do Fruit Research Institute into the center and establish a 100ha agricultural research complex. The Carbon Neutrality Education Center, scheduled to be completed in 2028, will serve as a national hub for spreading climate change response practices and strengthening environmental education for future generations. It will be constructed as a national-level environmental learning infrastructure that integrates education, experience, and exhibitions. Haenam County Mayor Myung Hyun-gwan expressed gratitude to National Assembly member Park Ji-won for their support during the national budget confirmation process. He also stated that Haenam will continue to work closely with government departments and the National Assembly to ensure the timely progress of these projects.
