Highingun County (County Mayor Gong Young-min) recently announced that it has issued car tax notices for the second installment of 2025, amounting to 14,014 cases and 22.11 billion won. The payment deadline is set for December 31. The second installment car tax recipients include registered owners of cars, motorcycles exceeding 125cc, and construction machinery, as of December 1. During the year, if there is a change in car registration, transfer, or deregistration, the tax will be calculated proportionally to the ownership period and subjected to supplementary taxation. Payments can be made at any financial institution nationwide using the notice or a virtual account. Alternatively, taxpayers can access WeTax (www.wetax.go.kr), or use their personal bank account, cash card, or credit card at a cash dispenser (CD/ATM). A Highingun County finance department official urged timely payment to avoid late payment surcharges, and advised taxpayers to make early payments before the deadline due to expected congestion at financial institutions and potential connection delays. As an additional service, Highingun County will operate a nighttime tax consultation office from December 29 to 31, from 8 PM, catering to working individuals who find it difficult to schedule weekday consultations for car tax-related matters.
